Welcome to the most cosmopolitan restaurant in the world! Here, customers from all over the world come to order food in languages you've never heard of, never thought you'd hear, let alone speak! A cooperative game that's fast-moving and immersive!
We organise [kosmopoliːt] tournaments as part of scheduled social activities.
This is a collaborative board game recreating the atmosphere of a world cuisine restaurant where customers order in different languages. The concept aims to help people discover linguistic diversity and combat preconceived ideas about languages and language in a fun and indirect way.
To create this game, a large database was compiled to produce the audio material, followed by a no less extensive transliteration process. In fact, the names of the dishes were elicited and recorded from native speakers of the different languages in the game before being transcribed into French spelling.
The game is accompanied́ by a 60-page illustrated scientific booklet, offering an introduction to the language sciences and presenting a sample of the multitude of languages spoken on the five continents (location, estimated number of speakers, etc.), as well as shedding light on the preconceptions and stereotypes associated with linguistic diversity.
To book a seat, add this session to your favourites. During the congress, don't forget to register via the "check-in" button in the top right-hand corner. The capacity is 40 people per one-hour session
